What this is

Huaxia Myth is an interactive knowledge engine for Chinese mythology — searchable, visual, shareable, bilingual, open. Every entry is grounded in public-domain primary sources.

Sources

• Shan Hai Jing text: composed from the 4th century BCE, public domain worldwide.
• Ancient art: public-domain scans from Ming–Qing woodblock editions and Wikimedia Commons / Smithsonian (CC0), each verified for its PD tag.
• Entity base: Wikidata (CC0).

Hard lines

We use public-domain text only. We do not copy modern copyrighted works (e.g. Yuan Ke's retellings, classifications or dictionary entries), nor scrape ctext.org's value-added/RDF data for commercial use. Our taxonomy is built from public-domain text.

Open API

Structured data is available over read-only JSON endpoints:

• GET /api/creatures — all creatures
• GET /api/creatures/:id — a single creature
• GET /api/graph — the genealogy graph

Endpoints are open by default; when API keys are enabled, send x-api-key and observe the rate limit (120 req/min). Contact us for commercial licensing and higher quotas.
